Tons of stories coming out of the league. J.D. Martinez jacks 4 home runs for the Diamondbacks, The Indians win their 12th in a row while still missing some key pieces, and Stanton jacked his 53rd home run. Although 4 home runs is impressive the other two head lines take my eye. The Cleveland Indians are dominating the game right now, and you have to think that they will be the top seed in the AL. The Astros have fallen off, Verlander makes his debut tonight so we will see how that goes. Who knows what is going to happen in the East, the Red Sox are imploding and should be full throttle on the panic button.
The other story goes to Giancarlo, who hit his 53rd home run yesterday. He put his number at 62 and I think he will surpass that. The only question is Giancarlo the MVP? In my eyes yes he is, the Marlins are not a good ball club and the only reason they are sniffing the play offs are because of him. Yeah the Dodgers are putting up historic numbers but everyone on that team is good, the Marlins only real threat is Stanton.
Football season is right around the corner and Mario is coming out with all his picks. I followed his picks in the past and won big money in football so make sure you get in on the action too. We have a full slate of games today so lets win some money so you can double it up in football season.
Low-Scoring Plays
Philadelphia Phillies @ New York Mets- You have to love this game here, deGrom vs. the worst team in the MLB. deGrom has been great this year very underrated because of how poor the Mets have been. Due to the Mets lack of players, I like this game to be extremely low. The Mets are playing with minor leaguers as all of their stars are injured. I don’t like either side to score runs in this one being the low scoring game of the day.
Targets: deGrom
New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles- You have to love everything the Yankees are doing right now. They beat Chris Sale then turn that around and beat Dylan Bundy. Tonight the Yanks have Sabathia going for them, who pitched well in his last outing against Boston. Sabathia is play that I love this year, he is cheap, an is never highly owned because there is potential for him to get shelled. The Orioles were hot for a while but have fallen back down to earth since then. Look for the Yankees to continue this streak and Sabathia to have a great game.
Targets: Sabathia, Holliday
Strasburg, Vargas, Verlander, Salazar, and Greinke are all great plays today as well. They will be highly owned, Grienke will be the best play of them all as price per point.
High-Scoring Plays
Minnesota Twins @ Tampa Rays- The Tampa Rays are a team that can mash the ball. Bartolo gets the call for the Twins and that is home run city written all over it. Logan Morrison has been on fire for the last week, hitting .379 with 5 home runs. He is a must play today, as the Rays should run all over the Twins at home.
Targets: Morrison, Longoria
Chicago Cubs @ Pittsburg Pirates-The Chicago Cubs are 7-3 over their last 10 and have a 3.5 game lead over the Brewers in the division. The Pirates show strengths at some points but overall they aren’t a phenomenal team. Look for the Cubs to win this one big as they score early and knock the Pirates starter out of the game early. Shwarber is a play that I still love he is a great ball player just having a down year, but he can put up Super Star numbers at any point.
Targets: Rizzo, Shwarber, Baez
Under Value Play
Duda-1B-TB- A game where I love the Rays, Duda will be a great play. He has the ability to hit homers and drive in runs at will.
Cano-2B-SEA- Cano is an interesting play today. He is going against Verlander which could be tough but in Verlander debut I like him to make a mistake. Trying to dance around Cano will be hard so look for him to make a mistake in an at bat here.
Longoria-3B-TB- Again with just like Duda, Longoria is a slugger that can hit home runs. Colon will struggle in this game as the Rays need every win they can get and have the ability to mash the ball. Look for him to work his way around Morrison and Duda, leaving it open for Longoria.
