Take a look at this home run by Judge, it wasn’t his farthest home run but it was a bomb. Watch Cespedes, his feet don’t even move! This might be the home run that gets him back on track.
We have a smaller slate of games with afternoon action so lets get to it.
Low-Scoring Plays
Cleveland Indians @ Minnesota Twins- This game is the first of the double header and Carrasco gets the call for the Indians. Carrasco is having a strong year, at 11-5 with a WHIP of 1.125. Carrasco also strikes out more than one batter per inning as he has over 150 strike outs. The Twins aren’t a great team so Carrasco should have a strong day and the Indians should win this one easily.
Targets: Carrasco, Lindor
Philadelphia Phillies @ San Francisco Giants- Jeff Samarzdija gets the call for the Giants who has been better this second half of the season. He couldn’t find a win at the beginning of the season as he was 2-12 and struggling. Well now he is 7-12 and is playing the worst team in the MLB. The Giants aren’t a good team either however they are better than the Phillies so this should be a lock up win for Samazdija.
Targets: Samarzdija, Posey, Sandoval
High-Scoring Plays
New York Yankees @ New York Mets-The Mets have lost 3 in a row to their big brothers as the Yankees have had their way with the team from Queens. Severino gets the call for the Yankees so it won’t get any easier for the Mets. However I do like the Mets in this game. Severino wasn’t great in his last outing against the Red Sox, so I like the Mets to squeak one out here. They can’t get swept by the Yankees and each game has been close so the Mets will win this one.
Targets: Cespedes, Rossario
Tampa Rays @ Toronto Blue Jays- Chris Archer gets the call who is one of the best pitchers on the day. I don’t like his price point for Archer as the Jays show some fire power. The Rays will win this game as they are facing Chris Rowley. He is 1-0 on the year, doesn’t have a ton of experience. This makes me love plays like Longoria and Morrison who can put the ball in the outfield seats at will.
Targets: Morrison, Longoria, Archer if you can afford it
Extra Innings
The Cardinals had a tough loss last night to the Red Sox as Mookie walked it off in the 9th inning. A season where the Cardinals are battling for a play off spot that loss couldn’t have felt good. The loss should take some wind out of their sails as they face Tallion today. Tallion is a play that I usually love, especially early this season. He won’t be highly owned and could have a big day. Wainwright pitches for the Cardinals who will be the pitcher everyone takes in this game. McCutchen is having a bounce back year and I think the Pirates are they play in this game.
