If you are a Boston Fan, start bashing the panic button because this team is in trouble. David Price might be done for the season as he is headed to the DL after his injury is flaring up from spring training. The Sox lost last night and are only a game up on the Yankees, but you can’t blame that on Porcello when he thought he would have the day off and then get thrown into it. You never know what rituals these guys have or what Porcello was doing this morning instead of preparing to make a start. He didn’t pitch poorly, but Boston didn’t score again. Boston needs to string some wins together or they better jump shit.
Low-Scoring Plays
New York Mets @ Seattle Mariners-The only bright spot for the Mets takes the mound today against Seattle. deGrom gets the call for the Mets who has been lights out this season. It is just going unnoticed as the Mets are bad and not in a race. You could argue trading deGrom, don’t think it would be the worst move. Regardless he should have a monster day against the Mariners who aren’t much of a threat. Cano, and Gamble are great plays but deGrom should be able to handle them. The Mets won’t be a threat, Cespedes is not the same player he was pre injury, Bruce is streaky and Duda is gone.
Targets: deGrom
Cleveland Indians @ Chicago White Sox-The Indians are hot as they are taking down everyone in their track. The White Sox are not much of a threat in this game so the Indians should win with ease. Corey Kluber gets the call for the Indians who has been phenomenal since coming back from injury. If he pitched the entire year they way he is right now he would give Sale a run for the Cy Young. I wouldn’t go near a White Sox batter today as there is a shot they can be no hit. We are do for a no hitter and Kluber absolutely has the stuff do it.
Targets: Kluber, Encarncaion, Lindor
Arizona Diamondbacks @ St. Louis Cardinals-This game makes me feel a little unsure with Grienke on the road. It’s not that he can’t pitch on the road, I just favor deGroms and Klubers matchups more. Grienke has had great success against the Cardinals in his career hold them to a collective average of .230 with 2 home runs in 113 at bats. Dexter Fowler has been especially bad, batting .095 off of Grienke. The Diamondbacks should win this game and Grienke should pitch well but I favor the other matchups more.
Targets: Grienke, Goldschmidt
High-Scoring Plays
Kansas City Royals @ Boston Red Sox- Zero shot the Red Sox get shut down again at home. Last night against Vargas was understandable but this offense has a former MVP in Pedroia, a potential MVP type players in Betts, Bogaerts, and Benintendi. These guys have been silent, look for Boston to go off today. Just this one game then they will go back to being who they are but Moreland is due, Bogaerts is due, Benintendi is due. Ramirez hasn’t been playing poorly so he will be a good play as well. Boston needs some mojo, look for them to get it today.
Targets: Moreland, Betts, Benintendi
Tampa Rays @ New York Yankees- The Rays were shut down by Tanaka last night, that isn’t a good sign for the Rays. Either Tanaka is back and will hurt their play off chances if he pitches well the rest of the way, or their offense isn’t as good as they thought. Duda hit a home run in his first game which is nice to see for the Rays. Tonight they face Severino who will be a sneaky good pick. Look to stack some Yankees in this game, Judge homered again last night he is always a safe play, but Gary Sanchez is a play that I love today. He is due to have a monster game. Gardner is also playing very well already has a career high for home runs. Look to ride his wave still and go heavy on the Yankees.
Targets: Sanchez, Todd Frazier, Gardner
Cincinnati Reds @ Miami Marlins- The Marlins have been great plays of late and are a great play here. Stanton is hitting home runs at will as he is not happy with pitcher taunting him and the current state of the Marlins. Everything that happened with Jose Fernandez is tragic but every year the Marlins don’t get any better. You have a franchise player in Stanton and you should be bringing in big time pieces to fit around him. You’re in Miami, who wouldn’t want to live there and play baseball. Look for the Marlins to be the sneaky team today to put up a decent amount of runs. Stanton should be a lock for your line up.
Targets: Stanton, Gordon, Peralta, Orza
