We have our first no-hitter of the season! Edinson Volquez tossed the MLB’s first no-hitter against the powerful Diamondbacks.  The story is even better because he did it on his late friend’s birthday Ace Ventura.  Ventura was one of the promising starts in the game and passed away during a car accident in his native country.  After an instagram post from Volquez wishing his friend happy birthday, Volquez went out and pitched a gem.  Happy Birthday Ace.

Low-Scoring Plays

New York Yankees @ Toronto Blue Jays-Severino is having an exceptionally good season for the Yankees.  His ERA is below 3 and he’s striking out batters.  The Blue Jays are only hitting,.283 as a team against Severino with 6 homes runs in nearly 90 plate appearances.  However Severino isn’t even the top pitcher in this game.   I like Stroman to out pitch Severino at home.  Stroman is 6-2 on the year with an ERA right above 3. The Yankees are only hitting .241 off of Stroman as a team, Judge has had success, but I like Stroman to blank the Yankees today.

Target: Bautista, Stroman

Boston Red Sox @ Baltimore Orioles-Sale is back on the mound for Boston.  In his last outing he was less than stellar, only going 5.2 innings letting up 11 hits.  All of the Boston writers were saying it was because Sandoval was back in the dug out and he can’t do anything right.  However I like Sale to bounce back in this one and have a day against the Orioles.  Look for him to have double digit strike outs and go 7 plus innings.

Targets: Sale, Ramirez

Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers-Verlander takes the mound for the Tigers looking to pick up for his 5th win on the season.  I love Verlander in this game as the White Sox aren’t the greatest team.  The White Sox have only hit .238 off of Verlander with 6 home runs in 138 plate appearances. The Tigers aren’t the strongest team either so the White Sox should be able to keep this game low scoring on their side as well.  Overall I like this to be the low scoring game of the day.

High-Scoring Plays

Houston Astros @ Texas Rangers-Houston is the best team in baseball, capable of putting up 10 plus runs in any night.  I love their dynamic young line up, and I love them big in this one over the Rangers.  A stack of McCan, Altuve, and Correa would be a great play in this one.  I think Texas will be able to score some runs as well, look for Napoli to have a long ball and Odor to have a strong day.  However in the end I like the Astros to win this one.

Targets: Altuve, Correa, Beltran

St. Louis Cardinals @ Chicago Cubs-Last night we got a Shwarber grand slam which I think will be the turning point for the Cubs this season.  Look for them to start to go on a tear, which Shwarber, Rizzo, Bryant will lead the charge.  Shwarber has been terrible so far this young season,  look for him to start to heat up solely because he can’t cool off any more.  It will be tough to get Bryant, Shwarber and Rizzo in your line up so look to take some one like Baez and Heyward to replace one or two of them.  Stacking Cubs and Astro players will be a great play for you today.

Targets: Rizzo, Shwarber, Bryant

Under Value Plays

Skoglund-SP-KC- Skoglund has little experience however in his last outing he picked up the win and scored 26.5 points.  He is playing the Indians who aren’t hitting well this year, only .246 as a team.  He is very cheap so it is definitely worth the risk.

Travis-1B-BOS-Travis is the future of the Red Sox infield and has played well in the games he’s been in so far.  If he is in the line up I would take him, he has power but can also hit for average like Betts and Bogaerts.  He will bat around 7 or 8 so he will have Mookie coming up behind him to drive him in if he reaches base.

Bruce-OF-NYM- Bruce has picked up the slack for Cespedes who has been out with injury.  Bruce has been crushing the ball hitting and has 13 home runs on the season.  Duda is back in the line up to give Bruce some protection.  He is $3900 which is steal when he has more home runs than Mookie.
