Not too many stories coming out of the league last night. Porcello lost again, and moved to 2-5 on the season. which is more games than he lost all of last year. On the other side of the AL East, the Yankees lost to the Astros as their former catcher, Bryan McCann launched a 3 run home run to finish off the Yanks.
Hoping over to the National League, Matt Harvey lost again. I thought he would have a strong outing after everything was laid on the table. He didn’t have an awful game but he wasn’t terrific and took another loss. The Mets should have traded him when the Red Sox offered Bogaerts for him 2 years ago. The Mets need a lot of help and should start moving some players and start building for the future.
We have a couple of afternoon games today so make sure you get your line ups in.
Low Scoring Plays
Tampa Bay Rays @ Boston Red Sox – Chris Sale takes the bump for Boston. He has been on another level this year striking out who ever he wants when ever he wants. Fenway will be packed since the Celtics have a night off in the NBA Playoffs so look for Sale to be even better, feeding off that energy. Blake Snell is a young pitcher for the Rays that is 0-3 on the year. He has to get a win at some point, it won’t come against Sale but he could have a strong outing to keep Boston low scoring.
Targets: Sale, Bogaerts
Chicago Cubs @ St. Louis Cardinals – Rivalry match up in the NL Central. Lester is a great pitcher there is a reason Theo Epstien brought him to Chicago in free agency. He is only 1-1 on the season but that is because the Cubs offense hasn’t been playing to it’s standard this year. I love Lester in this game to dominate the Cards. Look for Fowler to have a good game at home against his former team.
Targets: Lester, Shwarber
I don’t love any other game to be that low scoring, it will be hard to get Lester and Sale into a line up together but if you do, that could be 70 points easily with them. Look for pitchers playing weak offenses if you need another cheap pitcher.
High Scoring Plays
New York Mets @ Milwaukee Brewers – Gsellman is about to walk into a death trap. Milwaukee should tee off against him. They are one of the best home run hitting teams in the league. Thames has forearms the size of my torso, he is a monster. Gsellman does not strike out a lot of batters and has an ERA above 6. If you stack Brewers and Yankee players you should have a good day in DFS.
Targets: Thames, Gomez
Atlanta Braves @ Miami Marlins – Another division battle on the day. Volquez pitches for the Marlins who is still in search of his first win. Matt Kemp has owned Volquez batting .453 off of him. He is going to have to pick up a win at some point this season, and I think today will be that day. it will be a high scoring affair, hopefully Stanton can give some fire power to help Volquez out.
Targets: Prado, Stanton, Gordon
Undervalued Plays
Pina – MIL- C –In a game where the Brewers should dominate, Pina would be a sneaky pick. He is only $3100 and is batting .314. He averages 6.2 points per game which is a solid number for a catcher. If he doesn’t drive in runs today he should be scoring them.
Franco – PHIL – 3B – Franco would be a bold pick as he is hitting .205 on the year. However with Lester and Sale being expensive you’ll have to save money some where. He has 25 RBIs on the season, and is playing the a division rival which should elevate his game.
Pence – SF – OF – Pence is having a slow year so far, which is one reason the Giants are bad. Pence is a great player and has shown star potential through out his career. He has 2 home runs in May and could be a steal today for you line up.
Young – BOS – OF – Young has been in and out of Boston’s line up taking place of JBJ as he struggles this year. Young is batting 5th in the order so he should have people on base in front of him. Young also has the ability to swipe a bag or two. He will be a great play today.
