There are obviously some players whose salaries are outrageous, but, with such a deep pool of options because of the lack of teams on a bye, we can easily find ways to pivot if we don’t want to pay the premium. In addition, some players who would normally carry higher salaries can be added at a comparative discount.

Based on our expected Week 8 DFS game flow analysis and Week 8 DFS Overview published earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.

Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 8 Plays:

Quarterback

Geno Smith – At the start of last season, Geno Smith took the reins of the Seattle Seahawks, and he hasn’t looked back. Even though his team drifted toward a .500 record by the end, Seattle was clearly impressive compared to where it started. It is now roughly halfway through the 2023 season and, while Smith’s numbers have weakened a bit, the team is still 4-2 and playing well. On Sunday, the Seahawks will host one of the best defenses in the Cleveland Brows, and that is going to move people away from Seattle as a whole. We won’t. The Seahawks have scored 13 points in each of their losses, so it’s clearly imperative that the team leans on its offense. If it happens, Smith is probably a less popular play with a high upside.

Brock Purdy – After a perfect start to the season, back-to-back losses have people question the 49ers a bit. While that is understandable, it seems a bit short-sighted. The 49ers were a missed kick away from winning in sloppy conditions in Week 6, and lost a close game on a Monday night where anything can happen. The 49ers are still one of the top teams in the NFL without question, and this is an excellent week to set the record straight. Purdy was questionable to play this week, but after clearing concussion protocol, he is cleared to play, and should be operating at 100%. Purdy has demonstrated a typically very steady floor with decent upside every week scoring between 14 and 26 fantasy points in all but one game thus far. Getting a cheap and effective quarterback in Kyle Shanahan’s offense, against a defense that ranks 27th in the league in yards allowed, in a perfect bounce back script is a no-brainer.
