We’ve mentioned it a few times in recent weeks, but the injuries and changes to starters have opened up opportunities for some backups who still carry low salaries. This has naturally led to a stars-and-scrubs approach whenever possible, and that is definitely the case for this week.

Based on our expected Week 7 DFS game flow analysis and Week 7 DFS Overview published earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.

Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 7Plays:

Quarterback

Justin Herbert – It’s undeniable that one of the spotlight games of the first-half of the season is the divisional battle between the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs. It is, however, not a battle between two teams with winning records. A loss by the Chargers would put them four games behind the Chiefs in the win column and create a nearly-impossible mountain to climb. It might not result in a Los Angeles win, but the team is built to score points and throw the ball, and that they will. Obviously, quarterback Justin Herbert would be the engine that drives the passing attack.

Sam Howell – Of all of the quarterbacks in the league that jump off the page as high-end fantasy assets, Sam Howell doesn’t typically come to mind. While he may not be a household name, Howell is quietly having a strong season – in the world of fantasy football, anyway. Through six games, the young quarterback has scored 17 or more fantasy points in all but one game which came in a blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills. Despite the narrow loss last week, the New York Giants are not the Buffalo Bills in anyway shape or form. Howell is averaging 250 passing yards per game and 1.5 passing touchdowns per game to go along with a respectable rushing floor that he adds each week. Playing against the Giants and their defense which ranks 27th in the league in total yards allowed per game and 28th in points allowed per game, Howell should be able to continue his solid fantasy production at an extremely reasonable salary.
