Over the course of the few articles that lead into this one, we kept finding some disagreements in terms of overall outcome. To our surprise, when it came to honing on the players we plan to use in our lineups, the list was extremely concise. This probably speaks to the level of uncertainty in the matchups that caused such a difference of opinion where, those that were straightforward also produce some of the main targets for the weekend.
Based on our expected Week 9 DFS game flow analysis and Week 9 Games to Target published earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.
Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 9 Plays:
Quarterback
Lamar Jackson – The last time the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson took the field, they were getting embarrassed at home by a divisional rival. With two weeks to prepare and a non-conference opponent on deck — basically, one that is not familiar with how to stop Jackson — the Ravens’ offense is in-position to shine on Sunday. As always, Jackson carries one of the highest floors in DFS because of his rushing ability, but he has found the endzone via his legs in only one game all year. That’s likely to change soon.
Tua Tagovailoa – One of our top storyline targets of the weekend, Tua Tagovailoa actually enters Sunday morning with a “Questionable” tag to his name. Admittedly, it’s concerning. Tagovailoa is dealing with an injury to his throwing hand, and it may severely limit his ability to either throw or play at all. This carries extreme risk, but the reward is astronomical. Tagovailoa was the quarterback most rumored to be replaced by any potential trade for Houston’s Deshaun Watson, and now Tagovailoa gets to play against that exact same Texans team — which also happens to be 1-7 with one of the worst defenses in the league.
