The 12-game schedule for Sunday’s main slate initially felt like it would lead us in numerous directions. Instead, the increased number of games from which we could choose actually resulted in us cutting out more matchups than we kept. That left us with a tighter range of games from which we will target most of our players.

Based on our expected Week 8 DFS game flow analysis and Week 8 Games to Target published earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.

Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 8 Plays:

Quarterback

Jalen Hurts – We keep writing about how important it is for the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions to each play well in Sunday’s head-to-head tilt, but the teams are not the only groups that “needs to play well.” Jalen Hurts is still trying to show his new coaching staff that he can be the franchise quarterback of the future, and struggling against Detroit would severely hurt that case — remember that this regime did not draft Hurts and has little ties to him. The good news for Hurts is that the Lions’ defense ranks second-worst in net-yards-per-pass-attempt, so this is arguably the best opportunity for him to shine that he has had in weeks.

Jameis Winston – All week we have discussed the potential for the Saints in a huge NFC South matchup against the Buccaneers, so how could we not target Jamies Winston in his first game against his former team? Winston has had his ups and downs throughout his first year as the Saints starter, but the simple fact of the matter is that, when called upon, he has been mostly solid at worst. His overall numbers are modest, but a lot of that has to do with the Saints’ run-heavy game plan for much of the season. That game plan has served them pretty well thus far, but against the Buccaneers, that game plan won’t do them any good. The Buccaneers are borderline impossible to run against, and Alvin Kamara is likely to be bottled up throughout this game. That sets the stage for the Saints to finally unleash Winston. The Buccaneers’ defense has had a number of games this season where the secondary has been exposed in a big way, and with the Saints’ offensive line, Winston may have time to make a few big plays this week.
