Compared to last week, our list of targets for Week 4 is shorter – and probably more manageable. It is, however, quite spread out. This is because we are seeing potential in games that could produce ‘stacks,’ and we are highlighting them – and the players who can thrive – accordingly.
Based on our expected Week 4 DFS game flow analysis and Week 4 Games to Target published earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.
Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 4 Plays:
Quarterback
Patrick Mahomes – At one point, we simply decided, “It isn’t wise to forget about Patrick Mahomes.” The Chiefs’ quarterback produces in nearly every situation against nearly every team. The offense no longer even tries to lead the way with a ground attack – ranking 17th in rush attempts, which is undoubtedly higher because Kansas City is usually leading in games – and any time Mahomes steps on the field, he is likely to produce points. Often times, in bunches. Maybe this is the weekend in which Mahomes doesn’t explode, but his floor is so high that it hardly matters. The only time in his 22 career games – including the playoffs – that he didn’t either run for a touchdown or throw one was his first start as a professional, in the final week of 2016. Including that game, he has combined for at least two touchdowns 19 times. That’s his floor.
Russell Wilson – It’s always a treat to write about Russell Wilson because our general trust in the quarterback undoubtedly shines through. He basically never disappoints. If his team is losing, he’ll throw the ball 50 times to keep trying. If he’s winning, it was probably because he contributed. This usually makes him gameplan-proof. On Sunday, however, his appearance on our list to target is mainly because of the positive gameplan. This week’s opponent loves to push the pace on offense. Whether-or-not it works is irrelevant. The Cardinals have now allowed at least 410 yards in each game. This is because, as much volume as Arizona has on offense, it allows on defense. Russell Wilson with extra volume is flat-out explosive for fantasy purposes.
Tom Brady – This weekend’s matchup between the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills is tricky in terms of scoring. It’s debatable whether we will see a divisional slugfest or a surprisingly high-scoring contest. No matter the outcome, in a matchup between two undefeated teams, the best player on the field will be asked to win the game. Enter Tom Brady. Unless the Patriots get completely shut down – unlikely considering that the Bills defense is excellent, but has played against relatively weak offenses – Brady should bring his usual production to the field.
