For the majority of the season, our job has been to identify which games will have a particular flow that we can exploit. However, now that we are approaching the final quarter of the season, we can also look to which teams will accelerate their playoff chances with big performances. This, in turn, translates to more success for us as fantasy owners.

Sporfolio’s NFL Daily Fantasy Sports game-by-game analysis columns are driven by expected game flow. Based on a combination of our Week 14 NFL picks against the spread and our expectations for a given game, we project the actions necessary to make these picks come to fruition. We aim to pinpoint players integral to our predicted game flow for each game of the week.

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills

Luke’s DFS Take: It was only back in Week 10 when the Matt Barkley-led Bills went on the road and embarrassed the Jets with a 31-point victory. It remains pretty clear that both of these offenses are among the worst in the league, so I am very doubtful that either will put up enough points for that type of blowout again. Based on the way the football world works, it seems only fitting that the Jets would go into Buffalo and walk out with a win after how the game went less than a month ago, but it is unlikely that their struggling offense gets going this week against a strong Buffalo defense. That means that in order for the Jets to pull off a victory this week, the defense will have to lead the way. The Bills offense has shown some glimpses of hope recently, but those moments have been few and far between throughout the year, so expecting a good game from the Jets defense isn’t out of the question. Look for a low scoring game in this one without much fantasy appeal outside of the two defenses.

Mario’s DFS Take: As of right now, Sam Darnold is expected to play – although this news is unconfirmed. If he does, he’s a buy-low option coming off of an extended absence and with a winnable game ahead. Granted, the Bills’ defense is one of the best in the sport in limiting yards, but we have seen enough signs to know that Darnold will not be pushover. On the other side of the game, Josh Allen gets a similar nod, as he has proven to have some fantasy value through his legs. Buffalo has scored five touchdowns over the last two weeks. Four came directly from Allen, either rushing or throwing.
