Throughout our against-the-spread picks and DFS game flow analysis columns, we continue to highlight wild we expect Week 17 to be. But, as unpredictable as so many games may appear, we also have a massive slate from which to choose only a handful of players. With that, we are able to hone in on the key targets from an otherwise scattered week.
Based on our expected Week 17 DFS game flow analysis performed earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.
Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 17 Plays:
Quarterback
Russell Wilson – More often than not, picking players is largely based on their given matchup for that week. This week, situations become arguably more important than matchups, as the postseason is on the line. There are few people that have proven to be more clutch throughout their careers than Russell Wilson, and his team will need a big performance from him this week. He accounts for such a large portion of their offense, and with the season on the line, he will need to bring his very best. Betting on Wilson in a crucial game is always a worthwhile gamble even against a decent Cardinals defense.
Matt Ryan – After last season’s offensive success, it can be described as nothing but a “disappointment” that Atlanta ranks 15th in the league in points scored. But, the team’s offense remains its strength and, at home, with the season on-the-line, we can expect the Falcons to lead a relentless assault. It begins with quarterback Matt Ryan. Ryan’s touchdown total is modest, but he is closing in on 4,000 passing yards for the season. This mirrors the team, itself, and both Ryan and the offense still have some positive ‘correction’ in the near future. The matchup with the Panthers’ defense is not perfect, but Carolina might start pulling back some players if Atlanta can jump out to a lead – as well as if Minnesota wins and prevents the Panthers from getting a first-round bye.
