As noted in our game flow analysis, there are more-than-enough games from which to choose for our daily fantasy needs. Remarkably, despite the high number of options, we actually have a comparatively small list of players to target in Week 13. This is probably because the high amount of options led us to buy into a few, select players with confidence.
Based on our expected Week 13 DFS game flow analysis performed earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.
Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 13 Plays:
Quarterback
Cam Newton – Recency bias is a powerful force. After the Panthers dismantled the Dolphins on national television, they were the talk-of-the-town. A close win against the Jets in which Carolina did not look particularly great has sent the Panthers to the backburner. It should not be forgotten that the team is 8-3 and playing for sole possession of first place in the NFC South on Sunday. Cam Newton has a great matchup against a defense that was playing out-of-its-mind and has since regressed. The team will lean on Newton to take over the game in what could become a high-scoring, back-and-forth affair. It would be wise to do the same with your fantasy lineup.
Trevor Siemian – Siemian is not a guy who will be on most DFS players’ minds this week, as their only thought will be that he was benched in favor of Brock Osweiler, and then Paxton Lynch, so he stinks. While Siemian is not an All-Star, and likely is not the long-term solution for the Broncos, he is by far their best option right now, and has shown in the past that he can be good when the situation is right. The situation is about as perfect as possible this week for the renamed starter, as he faces off against a mediocre Dolphins defense that has allowed the third most passing touchdowns in the NFL, and the second highest passer rating in the league. He comes into this game with tons of motivation and desire to prove himself as a worthy quarterback, and has a new offensive coordinator who is trying to prove himself worthy as well. It should also be noted that in three of Siemian’s first five games of the season he exceeded 20 fantasy points, so it is not likely good performances haven’t existed. This week seems like the perfect time to take a flier on the cheap quarterback with the perfect situation.
