For a small slate of games, we actually had a relatively clear path to making the majority of our lineups. Granted, we had to concede in a few areas because of salary, but we were not nearly as restricted as we have been in the past. Our DFS picks for Wild Card weekend reflect this, as it is a concise set of targets confined to a few teams in positions we like.

Based on our expected Wild Card Round DFS game flow analysis performed earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.

Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Wild Card Round Plays:

Quarterback

Dak Prescott – With most of the game’s elite passers playing next week, we have a relatively balanced group of quarterbacks for Wild Card Weekend. As a result, we are looking at two players who normally don’t make it into our lineups, but both have high potential. The first is Dak Prescott, and his appearance on this list was strengthened by how he played in a meaningless Week 17 game. That’s right. Because he delivered when it didn’t matter, we actually like him to do the same when it does. As much as the Cowboys will want to run the football, passing is always a necessity in the postseason, and Prescott now has the momentum to build off of his last outing.

Mitchell Trubisky – Like Prescott, this is one of the first times we are looking at Mitchell Trubisky, but the situation could not be any better. The first aspect is simply the matchup against a beatable Eagles secondary. The Eagles rank 30th in the league in passing yards allowed per game, and many offenses have attacked their secondary with great success. The matchup alone makes Trubisky appealing, but the biggest reason may be his importance to the Bears. All season long the Bears have relied on their defense for wins, but that will not be enough to get them to the Super Bowl. If the offense is unable to produce, they will have a hard time beating the Rams and Saints, which will be their likely opponents in the next two rounds. The Bears should recognize that, and look to spark the offense by giving Trubisky a chance to make plays down field. This week is the perfect opportunity for that.
