As fantasy owners, it looks like we are being challenged in Championship Weekend. With an incredibly high number of viable targets, almost every player’s price is decreased. It’s as if we are being asked to make a lineup with anyone we want, as salary constraints are basically nonexistent. We accept.
Based on our expected Conference Championship DFS game flow analysis performed earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.
Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Conference Championship Plays:
Quarterback
Drew Brees – It’s easy to make a case for any of the four quarterbacks playing on Sunday as the one to target in a fantasy lineup, but Drew Brees gets his own special recommendation due to a combination of factors we particularly like. The amount of high-priced players in action on Sunday have helped keep the extreme salaries from ballooning, and we don’t need to pay a premium to own one of the best quarterbacks in the sport. More importantly, as good as the Saints’ running backs are – and as perfect of a matchup they have against the Rams’ defense – New Orleans still operates through Brees. Dating back to last year’s postseason, the Saints were on a mission to get another title on the arm of Brees, and extreme misfortune cut their chase short. They avoided another disaster, last week, but are inching ever-closer to the goal. With a Super Bowl ring now only two wins away, expect the Saints to rely on their most important player as he looks to deliver.
Jared Goff – Any and all expectations we have had about the NFC Championship Game has resulted in the Rams scoring in bunches – whether it is to establish a lead or keep pace with the Saints. If the Saints hold up their end of the bargain, the Rams will have no choice but to put the ball in Jared Goff’s hands far more this week than last week. The Saints’ defense as a whole has been much better lately, but it is the run defense that is their strength, and despite their improved play, they still rank 30th for the year in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. With that in mind, this is a still a matchup that can be taken advantage of, just as Goff did in their Week 9 matchup when he threw for 391 yards and 3 touchdowns. Goff will likely be the lowest owned quarterback for the weekend, but arguably has the best expected game flow which could allow him to be the most valuable option as he is also the cheapest quarterback of the week.
