One of the best realizations entering Week 6 was that the two quarterbacks we are targeting are so inexpensive that the rest of the roster can include extreme flexibility. Normally, we have decided between a balanced approach or a ‘stars-and-scrubs’ roster, but it is not necessary, this week.

Based on our expected Week 6 DFS game flow analysis performed earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.

Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 6 Plays:

Quarterback

Ben Roethlisberger – It was made very clear in out game-by-game analysis that Big Ben would be finding his way back into our lineups, so this is just further confirmation. Roethlisberger is coming off a terrible game, and doesn’t appear to have a good matchup when you look at some of the talent on the Chiefs’ defense. Despite their big name players, the Chiefs’ defense has actually been quite mediocre when it comes to yardage allowed per game – 25th in passing yards per game, 20th in rushing yards per game and 27th in total yards per game – and points allowed per game – 20th with 22.2 points allowed per game. In greater support of Roethlisberger is the fact that the Chiefs rank 30th in the league in fantasy points allowed per game to opposing quarterbacks. The Chiefs’ offense will likely continue rolling this week which will require Roethlisberger to keep his team in the game. This Steelers’ offense has struggled at times this year, but still possesses some of the most dynamic weapons in football and there is great reason to think that Roethlisberger can use his weapons to his advantage this week and show he’s still got it.

Kevin Hogan – When thinking of quarterbacks to start building a team around, Kevin Hogan is probably not a name that jumps out immediately. He is certainly an under-the-radar type of pick, but there are many reasons to like the recently named starter this week. The always present advantage for a Browns quarterback is that there is a great chance that they will be playing from behind which means they will have tons of opportunities to produce even through all of the garbage time possessions that mean nothing to the actual game. The matchup looks scary against the Texans, but it may go unnoticed that this Texans defense is without three of their top players as Brian Cushing remains suspended, and both JJ Watt and Whitney Mercilus suffered season ending injuries last week. While those are obviously things we never like to see, the truth is that is opens up greater opportunity for opposing players. Hogan has impressed at times in his various appearances and possesses a strong running ability. All of these facts considered, it is hard to imagine that Hogan does not score the 14 points needed to return positive value at only $4,600.
