Welcome to the Friday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee, I hope you have had a profitable week. We end the week with a six game slate to dig through for our DFS needs. There are three teams I am particularly interested in tonight when looking to construct my lineups:
Arizona Coyotes @ Carolina Hurricanes (Carolina, -235, 5.5 over/under)
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Pittsburgh Penguins (Pittsburgh, -170, 5.5 over/under)
New York Islanders @ Chicago Blackhawks (Chicago, -210, 5.5 over/under)
The first team I want plenty of shares of is the Carolina Hurricanes. This is a pick similar to yesterday when I didn’t really love the Sabres, but since the Sabres were playing Arizona they instantly became a team I wanted to stack (Buffalo went on to score six goals). We’re in the same situation tonight. Stacking Carolina wouldn’t really be on my radar if their opposition wasn’t the Coyotes. Last month Carolina only averaged 1.70 goals per game — but they do have some stackable lines and playing Arizona — on the second night of a back-to-back — could prove to a goal-drought-buster.
I used these bullet points yesterday (and just updated the numbers) and they are just as relevant today when considering why we would think about stacking Carolina:
- Arizona’s 3.21 average goals against per game ranks second-worst in the league
- on the road they have a league second-worst 3.61 goals against per game
- Arizona’s 77.8 percent penalty kill rate is sixth-worst in the NHL.
- In February the Coyotes allowed an average of 3.46 goals against per game — third-worst in the league
- Over the past 10 games, per naturalstattrick, Arizona’s SCA/60 rate of 33.16 is the second-highest in the NHL.
- Their HDCA/60 rate of 14.40 is dead last in the league (over the past 10 games).
We can add this note to mix:
