Welcome to the Monday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. We enter our last full week of regular season daily fantasy hockey action with a six-game slate to dig through for DFS needs. There are three teams I am particularly interested in when forming the basis of my roster construction tonight.
Arizona Coyotes @ St. Louis Blues (St. Louis, -300, 5.5 over/under)
Colorado Avalanche @ Calgary Flames (Calgary, -300, 5.5 over/under)
Nashville Predators @ New York Islanders (even, 5.5 over/under)
The first team I want plenty of shares of are the St. Louis Blues. Tonight they are home against an Arizona team that has allowed a league fifth-worst 3.23 goals against per game since the All-Star break and on the season have allowed a league fourth-worst 3.17 goals against per game. In March, spanning 13 games, Arizona has allowed 39 goals. Over their past 10 games Arizona has a SCA/60 rate of 32.86 — third-worst in the NHL. Arizona’s HDCA/60 of 11.9 is sixth-worst in th league over the past 10 games. The Coyotes CF% of just 44.60 percent is second-worst in the NHL over the past 10 games.
This month St. Louis has scored a league 10th-best 2.83 goals for per game and have a power play that has clicked a league ninth-best 21.4 percent over their past 12 games. Arizona, on the other hand, has killed off just 78.4 percent of their penalty kill chances. I will look to both even strength and power play stacks against Arizona tonight.
