Welcome the the Thursday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. Now that the NHL trade deadline has come and gone we are relieved of some the uncertainty that came with locking lineups over the past few days. We have 10 games to work with tonight for our DFS needs and I’d like to take through a few of my top stacks of the night:
Arizona Coyotes @ Buffalo Sabres (Buffalo, -165, 5.5 over/under)
Colorado Avalanche @ Ottawa Senators (Ottawa, -250, 5.5 over/under)
New Jersey Devils @ Washington Capitals (Washington, -280, 5 over/under)
The first team I want shares of in my tournaments tonight is the Buffalo Sabres. This pick stems more from complete distrust of Arizona than any real love for Buffalo. Let’s bullet point some of Arizona’s awfulness that also was noted on Tuesday before they played Boston (updated numbers):
- Their 3.21 average goals against per game ranks second-worst in the league
- on the road that number jumps to a league second-worst 3.61 goals against per game — second-worst in the NHL
- Their 77.6 percent penalty kill rate is fifth-worst in the NHL.
- In February the Coyotes allowed an average of 3.46 goals against per game.
- Over the past 10 games, per naturalstattrick, Arizona’s SCA/60 rate of 34.3 is the second-highest in the NHL.
- Their HDCA/60 rate of 14.84 is dead last in the league.
Phew, we have a lot to pick on here.
