Welcome to the March 1 edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. When the calendar turns to March you can start to feel hopeful winter will slowly lose its grip, the days get a little longer, and the nights stay at bay a few minutes more every day. That is, until we get walloped with some spring fever blizzard. Fingers crossed we’re in the clear this year. Today we only have two games to talk about. The NHL has been teasing us with these slates this season and I’ll be interested to see how long this new “bye-week” in hockey lasts.

Tonight’s games:

Carolina Hurricanes @ Tampa Bay Lightning (Tampa Bay, -165, 5.5 over/under)
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Chicago Blackhawks (Chicago, -130, 5.5 over/under)

Before I start looking at the two games — since I’ll be listing a lot of players — I’ll start with how I rank these teams for DFS purposes tonight:

  1. Chicago Blackhawks
