Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Daily Fantasy Hockey Morning Coffee. Today we have a small three-game slate to work with for our daily fantasy hockey needs.
Tonight’s Slate:
Nashville Predators @ Toronto Maple Leafs (Toronto, -120, 5.5 over/under)
Boston Bruins @ New York Rangers (Boston, -125, 5.5 over/under)
Edmonton Oilers @ Los Angeles Kings (Los Angeles, -130, 5.5 over/under)
Toronto and Nashville have both been hot recently but the team I want to start my roster construction around tonight is the Boston Bruins. Even though Boston is on the second night of a back-to-back they get Brad Marchand back on that first line — a line that might just be the best in the NHL this season. And Boston is lucky enough to draw a Rangers team that has lost three straight games and six of their past seven.
Last month New York allowed a league third-worst 3.67 goals against per game and had penalty kill rate of just 71.9 percent. Over their past 10 games the Rangers have a CF% of 42.82 percent — second-worst in the NHL. Additionally New York’s SCA/60 of 30.51 is seventh-worst in the league and their HDCA/60 of 12.1 over their past 10 games is the eighth-worst in the league.
On the other side we have a Bruins team that led the NHL in scoring in January with an average of 3.82 goals for per game. Over their past 10 games Boston has a CF% of 56.81 percent — best in the NHL. Boston’s SCF/60 of 29.27 is good or 12th in the NHL over the past 10 games — and this was largely without Marchand and Charlie McAvoy.
Boston is 8-0-2 over their past 10 road games (not including last night) and I’ll look for Boston to continue their road success tonight.
