Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. After a small three-game slate last night we’re back with nice 12-game slate to work with for our DFS needs. Tonight I have some clear teams I want to target and attack:
Arizona Coyotes @ Boston Bruins (Boston, -320, 5.5 over/under)
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Dallas Stars (Pittsburgh, -150, 6 over/under)
Nashville Predators @ Buffalo Sabres (Nashville, -140, 5.5 over/under)
The team I am most interested in stacking tonight is the Boston Bruins. When looking at Boston’s stats it really does only make sense to look at their February numbers as that’s where we’ll find the majority of their time under Bruce Cassidy. And look we will. This month Boston is second only to the Chicago Blackhawks in terms of goals for per game with 4.11. Additionally, Boston’s power play has clicked at a nice rate of 35.5 percent — good for second-best in the NHL this month. Over their past 10 games Boston’s SCF/60 rate of 28.93 is the ninth-highest in the NHL.
On the other side we have Arizona. Poor Arizona. This season has not been kind to them. Their 3.20 average goals against per game ranks third-worst in the league — on the road that number jumps to a league second-worst 3.60 goals against per game. Their 77.6 percent penalty kill rate is fifth-worst in the NHL. And this month continues to be cruel to the Coyotes with an average of 3.42 goals against per game. Over the past 10 games, per naturalstattrick, Arizona’s SCA/60 rate of 34.3 is the second-highest in the NHL and their HDCA/60 rate of 14.84 is dead last in the league. Not only should Boston get plenty of scoring chances, it’s quite possible they see plenty of high quality chances.
