Welcome back to the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. I hope you had a nice holiday break and are ready to get back into some NHL DFS action. Tonight we have a nice 11-game slate to work with for our daily fantasy hockey needs,

Tonight’s Slate:

Detroit Red Wings @ New Jersey Devils (New Jersey, -170, 5.5 over/under)
Buffalo Sabres @ New York Islanders (New York, -175, 5.5 over/under)
Montreal Canadiens @ Carolina Hurricanes (Carolina, -135, 5.5 over/under)
Columbus Blue Jackets @ Pittsburgh Penguins (Pittsburgh, -155, 5.5 over/under)
Ottawa Senators @ Boston Bruins (Boston, -200, 5.5 over/under)
Washington Capitas @ New York Rangers (New York, -120, 5.5 over/under)
Nashville Predators @ St. Louis Blues (St. Louis, -120, 5.5 over/under)
Dallas Stars @ Minnesota Wild (even, 5.5 over/under)
Edmonton Oilers @ Winnipeg Jets (Winnipeg, -130 5.5 over/under)
Arizona Coyotes @ Colorado Avalanche (Colorado, -170 5.5 over/under)
Vegas Golden Knights @ Anaheim Ducks (Anaheim, -120, 5.5 over/under)

The team I am going heaviest with tonight will be the Boston Bruins. In December Boston has scored a league sixth-best 3.36 goals for per game and get an Ottawa team that has allowed a league fourth-worst 3.36 goals against per game this month. Over their past 10 games the Bruins has a CF% of 56.06 percent while Ottawa is clocking in at a lowly 47.03 percent over that same time frame. Boston SCF/60 over their past 10 games of 33.95 is second in the NHL (only Tampa Bay has been better). On the other side we have an Ottawa team that has a SCA/60 of 33.52 — third-worst in the NHL.

Roll with Boston in both cash games and as a tournament play tonight.

The Marchand will be a popular play tonight. To shed some ownership look to Boston’s second line a nice source of secondary scoring. Over his past 10 games Backes is third on the team with 20 shots on goal and has two goals and two assits over that time frame. Heinen has three goals over his past 10 games — but what makes this mini stack (along with McAvoy) intriguing is that they skate togther at even strength and on the power play.

The second team I want to start much of my roster construction around tonight is the
