Today we have a small two-game daily fantasy hockey slate on the table — so our player pool is very limited. The games we have to work with are:

Washington Capitals @ Philadelphia Flyers
Edmonton Oilers @ Arizona Coyotes

The team we – and likely a huge percentage of players – will target is the Edmonton Oilers. It’s the clearest play on the board. Edmonton is the road favorite (-160) against an Arizona team that has allowed the third most goals against per game at 3.13. Arizona has also allowed the fourth-most power play goals against with 24 and have been short handed an NHL sixth-most 113 times this season.

Arizona has allowed eight goals and four power play goals over their past two games and since Dec.1 Arizona has allowed 52 power play chances.

This perfectly sets up one of my favorite plays on any given night: the Edmonton power play.

Edmonton has scored the fourth-most power play goals in the NHL with 24 (a league-leading 16 on the road) — and it’s a unit we can stack without destroying our cap space.

Milan Lucic $5.7K (9G, 14A, 11 PPP, 83 SOG)
Mark Letestu $3.9K (6G, 8A, 4 PPP, 44 SOG)
Leon Draisaitl $6.4K (14G, 16A, 13 PPP, 77 SOG)
Connor McDavid $8.7K (12G, 28A, 12 PPP, 96 SOG)
(D) Andrej Sekera $4.3K (4G, 12A, 5 PPP, 43 SOG)

round out Edmonton’s top unit.

Since almost every player is in play for our GPPs in a two-game slate, I’ll look to Drake Caggiula as a tournament option. Tyler Pitlick is injured (I have yet to see and update on his status tonight, but Bruce McCurdy of the Edmonton Journal reported “Pitlick was wearing a sizeable walking boot.” I don’t know exactly how the lines will shake out but it could mean more ice time for Caggiula. Caggiula gets power play time and if he does skate with Draisaitl at even strength it certainly gives him a tournament boost.

Pairing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Oscar Klefbom is a GPP play that should see some lower ownership tonight. They will skate together on Edmonton’s second power play unit. Nugent-Hopkins has two goals on 15 shots over his past five games. Klefbom has two goals and one assist on 19 shots on goal over his past six games.

The big GPP play tonight is going with
