Welcome the the Monday morning edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. Today we have a tidy five-game slate to work with for our daily fantasy hockey needs.

Tonight’s Slate:

Columbus Blue Jackets @ Boston Bruins (Boston, -125, 5.5 over/under)
L.A. Kings @ Philadelphia Flyers (Philadelphia, -120, 5.5 over/under)
Anaheim Ducks @ New Jersey Devils (New Jersey, -130, 5.5 over/under)
San Jose Sharks @ Edmonton Oilers (Edmonton, -140, 5.5 over/under)
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Colorado Avalanche (Pittsburgh, -160. 6 over/under)

The team I will base much of my roster construction around tonight is the Philadelphia Flyers. Sunddenly the Flyers look legit again and are currently riding a six-game winning streak. It wasn’t too long ago we wondering when their 10-game losing streak would end — it finally did end on Dec. 4 with a 5-2 victory over the Calgary Flames — and the Flyers have been rolling ever since.

Over seven games this month the Flyers have average 3.00 goals per game and have a power play that has clicked at a nice rate of 21.4 percent (six power play goals on 28 chances).

The L.A. Kings are playing their fourth-straight road game tonight and have lost three consecutive games on this road trip. The Kings have allowed a power play goal in five-straight games and on the month only have a penalty kill percentage of 77.8 percent. I like a Philly power play stack for both cash and tournaments.

Some Philly players of note:

Jakub Voracek has three assists and five shots on goal over his past two games.
Claude Giroux has two goals and five assits over his past five games.
Wayne Simmonds has two goals and two assists over his past five games.
Shayne Gostisbehere had two power play goals against Dallas in Philadelphia’s last game.
Michael Raffl has two goals and two assists over his past five games.

The second team I want exposure to tonight are the The Boston Bruins at home against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Through seven games this month Boston has scored an NHL seventh-best 3.29 goals for per game and have a power play that is starting to find the back of the net with more consistency with five power play goals over their past five games.

Over their past 10 games the Bruins have a CF% of 55.48 — third-best in the NHL. Boston leads the NHL in SCF/60 over their past 10 games with a SCF/60 of 33.13. Columbus also have very good possesion numbers over their past 10 games with a CF% of 53.46. But we’ll give the nod to Boston here as they have the best CF% in the NHL at  home (over 10 games) at 56.22.

Notes:

As really 2A team tonight I want exposure to tonight is the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pittsburgh has the highest implied goal total of the nigh andt though the Penguins were only able to put up one goal against Colorado on Dec. 11 and have not looked quite like the Penguins team we’re used to seeing, I’ll for them to bounce back against Colorado tonight.

Over their past 10 games Colorado has a league 10th-worst SCA/60 of 29.36. Additionally, through nine games this month Colorado have allowed a league third-worst 3.78 goals against per game. Through 10 games this month the Penguins has scored a league 10th-best 3.13 goals for per game. I Will certainly look to stack up the first two lines of Pittsburgh tonight:

Line One

JAKE GUENTZEL  $6.7K
SIDNEY CROSBY $9.1K
CONOR SHEARY $5.3K

Line Two

BRYAN RUST $4.0K
EVGENI MALKIN $7.9K
PHIL KESSEL $7.8K

-The New Jersey Devils have won of their past three games and in those two wins put up five goals in each game. Keep a Devils first line stack of TAYLOR HALL/NICO HISCHIER/KYLE PALMIERI in mind tonight for your tournaments.

-As always, please double check all line combos, injuries, and starting goalies prior to puck drop.
