Welcome to the Friday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. We end the week with a seven-game slate that features one game that I am interested in stacking players from both teams and a few teams I want to load up on.
The game I want to stack on both sides is the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Calgary Flames. Columbus has scored an NHL third best 3.30 goals per game and have scored 28 goals over their current seven game win streak. Calgary has scored 27 goals over their past seven games and have won six out of their past seven games.
I think this could be the real life game of the night and the DFS game of the night with goals on both sides. It does come with the caveat that Sergei Bobrovsky has not allowed more than two goals in any of his past five games and aside from allowing four goals against the Lightning on the 14th, Chad Johnson had looked very good prior to that game. So while I do think we could grab plenty of DFS goodness from this game, I want to keep most it confined to my tournaments. (Neither of these goalies is confirmed to start yet though — if Elliott gets the nod for Calgary, I’ll feel more comfortable loading up on Columbus players).
Calgary has scored nine power play goals over their past seven games, so this is where I’ll start when constructing some lineups tonight:
Johnny Gaudreau $7.6K (7G, 13A, 6 PPP, 58 SOG)
Sean Monahan $6.7K (9G, 9A, 6 PPP, 63 SOG)
Troy Brouwer $4.8K (7G, 8A, 6 PPP, 45 SOG)
(D) Mark Giordano $6.4K (3G, 9A, 5 PPP, 69 SOG)
(D) T.J. Brodie $4.1K (2G, 7A, 4 PPP, 34 SOG)
round out Calgary’s top power play unit and I want plenty of shares of a combo of these players tonight. As an even strength stack I love Matthew Tkachuk/Mikael Backlund/Michael Frolik. As a trio they have scored 10 goals, have 262 shot attempts for, have a CF/60 of 63.76 and an xGF/60 of 2.88. They could be an overlooked line tonight for GPPs.
Columbus has scored five power play goals over their past four games and I’ll also look to get shares of the Columbus power play tonight.
Nick Foligno $6.4K (10G, 12A, 11 PPP, 57 SOG)
Sam Gagner $4.7K (12G, 9A, 9 PPP, 69 SOG)
Cam Atkinson $6.9K (11G, 17A, 13 PPP, 81 SOG)
Alexander Wennberg $5.7K (6G, 18A, 13 PPP, 32 SOG)
(D) Zach Werenski $5.6K (6G, 12A, 9 PPP, 76 SOG)
are my top targets on the Columbus side of this game.
Tonight I’ll also look to
