Welcome to the Friday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving and that your week has been profitiable. We end the week with games being played throughout the entire day, but the for the purposes of this article we will focus on the best plays on Fanduel’s 7 p.m. main slate.
Tonight’s Slate:
Vancouver Canucks @ New Jersey Devils (New Jersey, -135, 5.5 over/under)
Ottawa Senators @ Columbus Blue Jackets (Columbus, -180, 5.5 over/under)
Detroit Red Wings @ New York Rangers (New York, -165, 6 over/under)
Edmonton Oilers @ Buffalo Sabres (Edmonton, -135, 5.5 over/under)
Toronoto Maple Leafs @ Carolina Hurricanes (Carolina, -120, 6 over/under)
Nashville Predators @ St. Louis Blues (St. Louis, -135, 5.5 over/under)
Calgary Flames @ Dallas Stars (Dallas, -130, 6 over/under)
Los Angeles Kings @ Arizona Coyotes (Los Angeles, -145, 5.5 over/under)
The first team I want exposure to tonight are the New York Rangers. Tonight they are at home against the Detroit Red Wings and are coming off a 6-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. I was feeling down on the Rangers after a two-game skid, but that proved to be just a glitch in an overall very successful month. On the season the Rangers have scored a league seventh-best 3.27 goals for per game and so far in November they have averaged 3.56 goals for per game. This month their powerplay has clicked at rate of 28.0 percent, good for sixth-best in the league. The Rangers have the highest implied goal total on the night in a game we’re seeing with a 6 over/under — there’s a lot to like on the Rangers end tonight.
At home in 5v5 situations the Rangers an xGF/60 of 2.82 — fifth-highest in the league. Detroit has lost two straight games and have allowed 10 goals over that time.
