Welcome to another week of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. We have seven games on tonight’s slate and this morning I’d like to walk you through my top teams I’ll be looking to stack.
Colorado Avalanche @ Columbus Blue Jackets
Calgary Flames @ Buffalo Sabres
New York Rangers @ Pittsburgh Penguins
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Nashville Predators
The first team I am interested in tonight is the Columbus Blue Jackets. Colorado has allowed a league 10th-worst 2.76 goals per game and the Blue Jackets currently sit at second in the NHL with 3.40 goals per game. But what really interests me are the power play splits. The Blue Jackets’ power play is clicking at a league best 29.3 percent and the get a Colorado team that has allowed a league third-worst 15 power play goals. To make matters worse for Colorado – but to the benefit our DFS rosters – is that they have been short-handed 71 times this season – third worst in the NHL. We could see some DFS power play goodness from Columbus tonight:
Nick Foligno $5.7K (7G, 11A, 9 PPP, 28 SOG)
Sam Gagner $4.5K (7G, 4A, 5 PPP, 35 SOG)
Cam Atkinson $6.3K (5G, 10A, 8 PPP, 46 SOG)
Alexander Wennberg $5K (3G, 14A, 10 PPP, 19 SOG)
(D) Zach Werenski $5.1K (5G, 9A, 7 PPP, 41 SOG)
(Seth Jones was activated this morning. Keep an eye to where he slots in)
round out the Columbus top power play unit and some combination of those players will make up the foundation for many of my lineups tonight.
