With only a two-game slate clearly every team is in play — and per FanDuel rules you have to use players from at least three teams. Below I’ll do my best to break down which teams make the most sense to lean on more than others.
I hyped up the Rangers on Wednesday and went heavy with them in my own lineups on Wednesday night and … they got destroyed 6-3 at the hands of the Chicago Blackhawks. The only thing that saved the night was we stacked up both sides of the game with Kane’s line to salvage at least part of the night. Tonight the Rangers are up against a Columbus team that has won two straight games while only allowing one goal in each of those games.
On the season the Rangers have scored an NHL seventh-best 3.32 goals for per game and prior to loss against Chicago had won six games in a row. Columbus has the highest xGF/60 in the NHL at 2.86 while the Rangers have an xGF/60 of 2.71, good for seventh in the league. On the road the Rangers have the worst xGA/60 of 3.65. Columbus has the sixth-highest CF% in the NHL at 52.41 percent and the eighth-highest SCF/60 at 52.41. The Rangers have the highest HDCF/60 in the league at 14.11 but Columbus clocks in with a league fourth-best 12.3.
I think we’ll see a high-scoring game tonight — and I like the 6 over/under we’re seeing — so one approach to tournaments tonight is to stack up both sides of this game with your one-off taken from the Buffalo vs. Detroit game.
