Welcome to the Thursday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. Tonight we have a 10-game slate to pick apart. Let’s jump right in.
There are seven teams I am particulary interested in tonight:
Colorado Avalanche @ Dallas Stars
Winnipeg Jets @ Philadelphia Flyers
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Buffalo Sabres
Florida Panthers @ Toronto Maple Leafs
The first game I’m interested in is the Colorado Avalanche at the Dallas Stars. I can see goals from both sides of this game. Colorado remains a GPP only option for me as they only have only averaged 2.07 goals per game this season — third-worst in the NHL. But Dallas has allowed a league fifth-worst 3.35 goals per game. And, according to naturalstattrick.com, Dallas has allowed 21.28 scoring chances against per 60 minutes with a HDCA/60 of 10.57. Keeping those numbers in mind, combined with the fact that both of the Dallas goaltenders have save percentages of under .900 percent, we might just be able to get a very low owned Colorado team with the chance to put up some solid DFS numbers.
Dallas has allowed a league third-worst 14 power play goals against this season so we’ll look to the Colorado power play to give us the most bang for our buck:
Nathan Mackinnon $6.3K (2G, 6A, 4 PPP, 52 SOG)
Mikko Rantanen $4K (1G, 2A, 2 PPP, 20 SOG)
Jarome Iginla $4.1K (2G, 1A, 24 SOG)
(D) Tyson Barrie $4.9K (1G, 5A, 3 PPP, 37 SOG)
round out Colorado’s first power play unit.
