Welcome to the Tuesday morning edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. I’m perusing the games the night before at 9:07 p.m. The Rangers/Sharks game is on in the background. But all I can hear is my three-year-old sing-screaming a song into a combo microphone-keyboard that “meows” instead of actually playing notes. He’s awake at this hour because he says he’s afraid of ghosts and monsters … but I fully know I’m being conned. He knows I’m a sucker for that excuse to leave his bedroom. The line he keeps singing is “the London Bridge is falling down … the London Bridge is falling down … the London Bridge is falling down …” Cute for a minute. Welcome to hell, the next.
DFS hockey is the same way, just sometimes in reverse. I felt terrible about my Pavelski/Rangers recommendation … and then in a flurry of goals Pavelski ended up with 42.9 points on FanDuel and the Rangers scored 7 goals. You really have to stick around to the final seconds in DFS hockey.
We have a big slate of games tonight and I’ll look at the ones that intrigue me the most.
The Washington Capitals are huge favorites tonight against the Colorado Avalanche. Colorado is on the second night of a very difficult back-to-back with Pittsburgh and now Washington. Colorado showed true grit against Pittsburgh with a 4-3 victory but facing Washington on the back end of a back-to-back should lead to a big game for Washington.
