Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. We have a mid-week slate of just two games, but we get a great rivarly game with the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens.

Tonight’s Slate:

Montreal Canadiens @ Boston Bruins (Boston, -200, 5.5 over/under)
Pittsburgh Penguins @ Anaheim Ducks (Anaheim, -115, 5.5 over/under)

Tonight I’m going heavy with the Boston Bruins in all formats. Over five games played in January the Boston Bruins lead the NHL with an average of 4.40 goals for per game (22 goals in five games). Over their past 10 games Boston leads the league in GF/60 with 3.7 and while they have lost two of their past three games their win came against the Montreal Canadiens on Jan 13. On home ice Boston has scored a league ninth-best 3.26 goals for per game and have a league 10th-best power play percentage of 21.8 percent.

Even with the recent two losses Boston has had a very consistent offense:

Dec. 30: five goals scored
Jan. 2: five goals scored
Jan 6. seven goals scored
Jan. 7. five goals scored
Jan. 13. four goals scored
Jan. 15. two goals scored

Though Boston only scored two goals on the 15th they did pepper the Dallas Stars with 32 shots and did put pressure on Dallas and had a CF% of 56.58 percent for the game — which is acutally their highest CF% in their past 10 games.

It’s interesting to glance at the shot chart for that game. We can see that Dallas had more point blank chances while Boston’s shots were more scattered over the ice. I expect Boston to be able to tighten their scoring area at home tonight.

I think the PASTRNAK/BERGERON/MARCHAND line will see the most ownership tonight — and for good reason. Over their past 10 games at even strength this line has accounted for seven goals and 112 shot attempts for. I will certainly have my shares of this line going tonight in cash games.

Over five games in January the Montreal Canadiens have allowed an average of 3.00 goals per game. Over their past 10 games Montreal has allowed a middle of the pack SCA/60 of 28.13 and a HDCA/60 of 10.93. Montreal has lost seven of their past nine games and eight goals over their past two games.
