Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. I hope the opening days of the new year have been profitable for you. Today we only have two games to work with for our DFS purposes and we’ll go through some options we can use tonight.
Tonight’s Slate:
Ottawa Senators @ Detroit Red Wings (Detroit, -135, 5.5 over/under)
Chicago Blackhawks @ New York Rangers (New York, -150, 5.5 over/under)
Over their past 10 games the Blackhawks have the best CF% in the NHL at 55.52 percent. On the other end we have a New York team with the second-worst CF% over their past 10 games at 44.17 percent. Chicago has the highest SCF/60 over their past 10 games at 34.91 while the Rangers have allowed the sixth-most scoring chances over their past 10 games with a rate of 31.74.
But we do have to consider some numbers from last month as the Rangers averaged 2.85 goals per game and on home ice — and for the season at home New York has averaged 3.17 goals for per game. Last month Chicago only averaged 2.54 goals for per game and allowed 2.94 goals against per game. The Rangers have really have been grinding out games going into overtime in six of their past eight games while Chicago has lost four of their past five games and have gone into overtime in two straight games.
Chicago has allowed 16 goals over their past four games and tonight I’ll start much of my construction around the Rangers.
